Therapist Spotlight Kinneta Mason

What do you specialize in?

I specialize in helping adults through struggles with ADD, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, and low self-esteem. I also help couples through relationship issues.

What do you think is important about your role as a therapist?

I feel in my role as a therapist it is important for me to be empathetic, supportive, understanding, and nonjudgmental.

How do you help people, in your opinion?

I believe I help people by being a good listener and working with my clients on their unique needs. I try to provide a comfortable and trusting environment to help my clients through struggles they are facing.

What is something that you wish people knew about your specialty, or about therapy in general?

A friend of mine who is a social worker once gave me this article entitled “10 Things I Wish Everyone Knew About Therapy.”  The article has many valuable quotes, and here is one of my favorites:
“Therapy isn’t always easy, but I think it’s the most worthwhile gift you can give yourself. Find someone you trust and who puts you at ease. The relationship you build with your therapist is the most important aspect of all.”

Name an influential person or experience in your life.

On a personal level, my father and husband are influential in my life because of their integrity, strength, support, and faith. Professionally, my Clinical Supervisor is always so encouraging and supportive, and is influential in my life as well.
