Myth: Therapy is for “crazy” people

Fact: Therapy is for anyone that has confronted a problem in life for which they have been unable to find a solution and for whom the privacy and professional training of professional counseling is preferable to talking with friends or family. Therapy has been shown to be helpful with most people regardless of age, gender, or ethnic or cultural origin by arming them with the skills and tools to effectively handle emotionally turbulent times in their life. Therapy can help manage the difficulties of life more gracefully and help individuals learn more adaptive, constructive ways of coping with a wide variety of life’s challenges, such as family conflict, addictions, relationship distress, family problems, parenting, or work issues.
