About Janet Schryer Donahue, LPC, CCTP, NCC

Clinton Township

Life is challenging.  We all have times in our lives when we really need somebody to talk to.  That person needs to be trustworthy, invested in seeing us succeed, and non-judgmental.  Rather than using a prescribed plan, they need to hear us and see our unique strengths and areas to develop.

Janet is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) who works with individual adolescents and adults. After completing her Master’s in Counseling at Oakland University, she went on to gain credentials as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and advanced training in counseling Children and Adolescents.

Janet creates a warm, collaborative environment seeing each client as a unique individual.  She is skilled at integrating components of numerous methods based on the client’s needs including but not limited to:  psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, narrative, solution-focused therapies, motivational interviewing, prolonged exposure therapy, cognitive processing therapy, play and art therapy.  She has advanced training and experience working with clients who present with substance abuse, and is a practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), levels I and II.  She has extensive experience helping survivors of severe trauma and refugees.

Janet also holds a school counseling license and has worked with students in various districts.  She understands the school frontier when working with youth.

Janet works with individuals ages 8-80 who experience a variety of challenges.  She is a speaker on the topic of trauma and how it affects our lives, having made presentations at the MISD, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, working with medical students in training through OU, and various civic groups.
