Sara is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling. She has extensive clinical experience with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings. For the past three years she has worked in mental health as a school-based therapist, gaining experience with age groups K4 through 12th grade; as well as working with blended, foster, and adoptive families by providing individual, family, and crisis care. Sara is also certified as a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator.
Sara believes that each person’s journey in therapy is unique, and focuses on using techniques and styles that are individualized to each’s needs. Sara strongly believes that therapy is a process focused on growth and empowerment based on a foundation of trust and partnership between the client and therapist, with the goal that one can leave therapy with the tools to succeed in their daily lives independently.
Her areas of experience and special interest include anxiety, depression, anger management, self-esteem, stress management, self-harm, ADD/ADHD, grief and loss, relational issues, and couples and family counseling.
