I completed my graduate training in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on couple and family therapy at Wayne State University. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families in multiple settings including community mental health and private practice. I primarily work with clients ages 14 and older who are experiencing any difficulty in some or all major areas of functioning - within one's relationship/marriage/family, at work, at home, and/or within oneself. I have specific experience working with individuals exhibiting some of the following concerns: attention deficit disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (including body dysmorphic disorder, hair-pulling disorder, etc.), relationship issues, self-esteem, and sexuality concerns.

I prefer to use an empathic approach to treatment with the goal of providing a normalizing and accepting environment for my clients. I place great emphasis on the need for clients to receive adequate validation and support, as this provides a strong foundation to move forward in the journey of psychotherapy.

Additionally, I utilize both a humanistic and cognitive behavioral framework in therapy. I am particularly interested in using motivational interviewing to promote behavioral change. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process. More specifically - I believe that client ideas, creativity, and input are all valuable and essential in empowering and moving clients toward making the changes they wish to see in their lives.
