My name is Crystal Shilling and I am an LMSW-C with experience and training in Pediatrics, Maternal/Child Health, Integrated Behavioral Health, Infant Mental Health & Primary Care. I am currently employed as a Psychotherapist specializing in Pediatrics and Perinatal Mood Disorders/Postpartum Depression, Anxiety and OCD. I also teach college courses in Social Work at Spring Arbor University and I am currently enrolled in a Doctor of Social Work program at Capella University.
I possess a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University and a Bachelor's degree in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor University. Prior to starting my career as a Psychotherapist, I was employed as a Medical Social Worker, Child/Family Therapist & Behavioral Health Consultant in Integrated Health Care, Pediatrics, Oncology & Maternal Child Health. I also served as a Supervisor for the Integrated Health/Infant Mental Health Program at a local CMH agency and implemented a training protocol for all BHC’s agency-wide. I enjoy working collaboratively with providers in Pediatrics and Maternal Health to identify at-risk children and mothers and ensure linkage to appropriate care. I have additional experience serving as a home-based therapist/prevention services specialist with children from birth to age six. I have extensive experience with individual, group and family therapy, motivational interviewing & brief, solution-focused therapy methods. I prefer a strength-based, solution-focused approach to care and encourage family involvement in all individual sessions as appropriate. I have certifications in Integrated Behavioral Health & Primary Care, Behavioral Health Consulting in Primary Care through the BHC Academy (Cherokee Health), Motivational Interviewing, PAT (Parents as Teachers), CAFAS, PECFAS, DECA 0-5, infant massage, Perinatal Mood Disorders & Multi-Family Psychoeducation for adolescents with Schizophrenia & Bipolar.
