In times of great uncertainty, we all need a source of clarity and stability. We may be more nervous or worried than usual, start to feel down or depressed, or get overwhelmed by our work, relationships, and personal struggles. This is something that everybody goes through, and when times get hard it is both normal and healthy to find a caring, committed professional who will listen to your unique story without judgment or personal agenda, and who will join you where you are at to help you find a greater sense of calm, fulfillment, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Derrick Freyman is a licensed clinical social worker with years of experience serving children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He specializes in helping people who are struggling with a wide range of challenging issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, and trauma as well as relationship problems, discrimination, and gender dysphoria. He welcomes clients of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Derrick is offering teletherapy sessions exclusively at this time.

Derrick graduated at the top of his class from Michigan State University where he received advanced clinical training in couples and family therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and school social work. His therapeutic approach is individualized to his clients’ needs and draws from a range of evidence-based orientations like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and existential psychotherapy. His primary focus is to cultivate safety and warmth in the therapeutic environment, help people find relief, and work with each client to make a plan that works for them in supporting progress along their own unique journey. Derrick offers free consultations for prospective clients as well as flexible payment arrangements for those without adequate insurance coverage.
