I have a master's degree in social work and am a licensed master social worker in the state of Michigan. I have worked primarily in an out-patient setting with children and adolescents and their caregivers, and adults for over 35 years. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, parts of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, modified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and the newer and very promising Compassion Focused Therapy are the main theories and interventions I use. I also completed training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, a well-researched and very effective practice designed for children ages two to seven and their caregivers.
Whether your issues are smaller or larger, relatively simple or more complex, you are and your story is important. I will do a thorough initial assessment and together we will help you to put your concerns, dreams, and what you want help with into meaningful goals. Therapy will be individualized and go at your own pace. Any barriers to moving forward, which is a normal part of growth, will also be addressed. I am glad you read my bio. and I hope that we can work together.
