Jimmy Ivy received his Bachelor's in Education from Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan, and his Master's in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Jimmy's concentration in his master's program was interpersonal, specializing in children, youth, and families. Jimmy was also a part of a specialized program titled "Detroit Clinical Scholars". This specialized program was a federally funded training program designed to prepare graduates with skills to deliver quality behavioral health services to underserved racial and ethnic minority children in integrated healthcare settings. Furthermore, Jimmy was a part of the Parenting In Context Research Group. This research group was a community-based intervention that focused on the role of fathers in promoting family and child well-being.

Jimmy has worked in school, juvenile justice, abuse and neglect, psychiatric hospitals, and community mental health settings. Jimmy's diversified professional background has allowed him to interface comfortably with a plethora of cultures and races. Jimmy's diversified background has also allowed him the experience to treat and care for individuals with many different mental health disorders; including but not limited to Mood, Anxiety, Neurodevelopment, Substance Abuse, Trauma-related, and Impulse Control Disorders.


Jimmy uses a Person Centered-Strengths based approach when treating clients. Jimmy believes that all clients have strengths and qualities, and they're experts in their own life. Jimmy uses evidence-based practices/ interventions when treating and assisting clients in overcoming challenges.
