I believe the counseling experience is one of a very personal, shared interaction between people; the most crucial aspect of this relationship is trust. Counseling is a joint effort, which cannot be successful without your hard work, energy, and courage. There are many reasons people seek counseling; regardless of the reasons, I believe an enhanced sense of self-understanding and acceptance is essential in all situations, including understanding how past experiences have shaped the way we view ourselves, as well as how we understand relating to others. Therapy provides a safe place to explore reactions, thoughts, and feelings about people in your life as well as yourself. It allows you the opportunity to practice new ways of interacting and when ready, to try these in other relationships. I believe that each individual has a unique view of the world, based on his/her role in it. The understanding that none of us are totally individual, but are part of a whole, either a small family unit or as a part of the greater community, is critical to the growth process. Along with a personal understanding of trauma, I am a cancer survivor and have specialized in working with individuals struggling with a disease diagnosis in addition to my other areas of specialty.

I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Spring Arbor University and have been practicing in a private practice setting since 2012. I specialize in working with Individuals, Couples, Family Counseling, and Crisis Counseling using one or more of the following modalities; EMDR, CBT, REBT, Interpretive Arts, and use a variety of relational concepts. Self-awareness, healing, and general well-being may be a very short process for some clients and longer for others, together we will decide on the number of sessions needed to achieve your goals. When your ready to consider talking with someone, give me a call, I look forward to sitting with you and exploring your potential.
