You can have a better life and by seeking professional help, you are improving your chances of getting that.  My mother was a therapist herself with cerebral palsy and a consumer of therapeutic counseling as she broke professional barriers.  She always emphasized that therapy should be considered as the joining with a fellow precious individual as a ‘companion on the journey’ to a better life.  In my 20 years as a therapist, this attitude has allowed me to maintain respect for and hope in each of my clients.

I received my Masters of Social Work at the University of Washington graduating with honors.  Since then, I have worked with many different populations including adolescents, adults and the elderly.  I have worked on projects funded by the National Institute of Health to improve health promoting behaviors with people with mental and physical disabilities and published papers that won national and international awards. My passion for helping people was the largest component of those successes.  Most recently, I have worked in community mental health in Michigan serving clients with a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and a wide variety of differing diagnoses.  I have worked with rich and poor, families and individuals, the able bodied and those suffering with illnesses and disabilities.

My continuing education, training and experience has allowed me to draw from a wide range of therapeutic approaches including EMDR, cognitive behavioral, dialectic behavioral and mindfulness perspectives among many others.  I take each of my clients seriously.  I hope that I can help you achieve improvement and accomplishment in your ‘journey!’  Welcome!
