I began my professional career as a domestic violence prosecutor specializing in rape and physical violence. In my role as an Assistant District Attorney I learned about the complexities of physical, sexual and emotional abuse and the toll it takes on a victim’s psyche. I chose to leave law and work with people clinically regarding their mental health for the past decade. I attended UCLA for my masters in Social Work (LCSW) and then finished another three years of graduate school at Reiss Davis pursuing my PsyD in Child and Adolescent Psychology and am in the process of finishing my doctorate dissertation. Additionally, I am licensed in Michigan as an LMSW.

My approach is deeply rooted in Psychodynamic Therapy, however I also incorporate some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Theory (DBT), Mindfulness, Somatic Work, and Attachment Theory and how it relates to Affect Regulation. Specifically, understanding not just why we maintain certain patterns in our lives but the neurobiological underpinnings of trauma and our early connections to others enables individuals to learn what is happening in their brain at an unconscious level. Once we truly understand what is occurring in our minds and bodies when emotionally triggered we can begin to change negative behaviors and heal. Finally, I was trained with a strengths based approach to treatment and work with clients with respect, empathy and an ability to embrace their uniquely positive qualities that are within each of us.
