Sandra Dougherty, BS, LMSW, is a clinical social worker who obtained a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology with a dual focus in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Michigan- Flint in 2005. She went on to obtain her Masters of Social Work with specializations in interpersonal relations and healthcare from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor in 2007.
Sandra works with clients ages 5 and older. Her areas of specialization include grief and loss, chronic and terminal illness, chronic pain, geriatric transitions, end of life decisions and caregiver support. She has knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Medical Durable Power of Attorney, Five Wishes and long term placement in assisted and independent living environments, adult foster care and nursing homes. She has gained her experience in hospice and palliative care, oncology and private practice. Additionally, she is skilled in working with life transitions, crisis intervention, self-harm behaviors and behavioral challenges in children. She is well versed in multidisciplinary collaboration with school support staff (including school counselors, social workers and interventionists regarding 504 and IEP plans), psychiatrists and primary care physicians.
