I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and trained EMDR therapist. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling at the University of Spring Arbor. I am dedicated to helping you overcome the emotional defenses that keep you from living your best life. I believe that in order to achieve emotional wellness one must reprocess emotional disturbances. The way to achieve such a goal is through a scientifically proven therapy known as EMDR.

Allow me to explain how EMDR works-

A disturbing memory can become stuck in the nervous system along with all its different components-the sights, sounds, thoughts, emotions, and body sensations associated with it. Because it is stuck, it continues to be triggered by reminders of the traumatic event. Some disturbing memories may be lodged in your subconscious which causes such defenses as depression, anxiety, procrastination, anger, and other debilitating defenses that rob us of our full potential. The goal of treatment is to free these stuck memories, so they can connect with more useful information. The eye movements or other Dual Attention Stimuli used in EMDR Therapy seem to be the mechanism that unlocks these stuck memories and allows the brain to process the experience. This may be what occurs in REM or dream sleep. The important thing to remember is that it is your brain that will be doing the healing and you will be in charge of the process.

I am dedicated to helping you overcome the emotional defenses that keep you from living your best life. I offer EMDR therapy, online.
