Sharyl Harrison is a Licensed Master Level Social Worker with over 25 years of experiencing working with Families, Children, Adolescents, and individuals. She has a wealth of knowledge in dealing with people who have and has experienced trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and or have a need for support or just feel that they have lost their way. Her Motto is “Meeting people where they are while proving a safe space for one to express their thoughts and feelings to promote healing”.

Sharyl completed her master’s degree in social work at Eastern Michigan University. Her early career began in the Human Services field as a case manager servicing children and families in the Foster Care and Juvenile Justice Sectors. As a case manager she had a desire to help the underserved populations of individuals and families in overcoming many obstacles. She remains committed to the field of social work and continues to assist those in need in finding resources to assist in reunification and purposeful living.

Sharyl believes that change occurs when people are given support, encouragement, validation and provided with a listening and unbiased ear. Also having an open mind, treating people with respect, and dignity, while offering positive praise and trust can help one with the necessary tools and skills needed in navigating through life’s obstacles. It is my personal belief that it is important for individuals to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and work diligently to find ways to heal their inner selves. Sharyl will utilize different treatment techniques to help each person in reaching their true potential while assisting them in understanding that while life can be quite challenging positive change requires effort and work.

Through my many years of experience servicing people/persons, this has supported me as a therapist in the knowledge of various treatment modalities. Sharyl will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing techniques, to name a few as useful tools acquired over the years. This has helped her in strengthening her skills in how she delivers services to a diverse population of people. Sharyl’s therapeutic approaches also include providing a safe space and place for the healing process to begin. She is willing to see and walk you through as you overcome difficulties and find your happy place.
