Tanya Tietema received her undergraduate degree in Clinical/Community Psychology from the University of Michigan-Flint and graduate degree in Clinical and Humanistic Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. She utilizes a multisystem approach with a foundation of humanistic/person-centered methods with emphasis on unconditional positive regard and empathy. Her therapy is tailored to the individual’s needs which may include various approaches such as cognitive-behavioral, existential, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, rational emotive therapy, family systems, emotionally focused, and wellness/holistic in order to help achieve rapid results.

Tanya’s clinical experience includes outpatient, inpatient, hospital emergency department, crisis services, substance abuse center, group homes, community mental health setting, and behavioral consultation. She works with adolescents and adults from diverse populations and with individuals, couples and families. Some of the many ways she helps others is to interrupt and replace maladaptive thought patterns, create cohesive relationships, facilitate skill building, develop positive coping strategies, overcome barriers to success, build a positive self image, promote healing while moving forward, and maximizing a person’s full growth potential. Tanya provides a warm, caring, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can relax, explore, and evolve.
