I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 24 years of experience working with mental health and substance abuse issues. I decided at a very early age that I wanted to be a therapist to help people navigate through life’s difficulties. I use CBT, Motivational Interviewing and solution focused treatment with my clients. It is important to me that we establish a great therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect. I believe we all have the ability to help ourselves through the difficult times using the support and tools we have, and the relationship with the therapist is vital in achieving this. Sometimes all my clients need is a sounding board. Friends and family can help, but often it takes an objective listener. My style of counseling is to be direct. I like to be open with my clients and ask questions in order to understand my client’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  Sometimes the questions can be difficult for clients to answer and I respect their right to avoid answering them. Through time, I hope to develop a therapeutic relationship that will allow those questions to be answered without fear. Being able to get joy out of life is my primary goal in helping my clients.
