Jaya Hariprasad, MA, NCC, LCPC
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
In my practice, I have found that the most important aspect of counseling is building a trusting therapeutic bond between myself and my client. I work with clients of all races and genders, making certain that our sessions are built around inclusivity and empathy. I believe that treatment is not about simply alleviating a symptom, but rather viewing individuals holistically, helping to heal the mind, body, and spirit. My treatment approach is informed by the belief that everyone is different and that those differences need to be acknowledged, honored, and respected. I work with individuals who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression, cultural concerns, and worries about life stage transitions, among other issues.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC), with an MA in Counseling from Northwestern University. My training is rooted in Psychodynamic Theory, but I utilize interventions from various therapeutic methodologies to best serve the needs of my clients. To supplement my Psychodynamic and Person-Centered approach, I use techniques from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Bibliotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, Mindfulness, Multicultural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, South Asian Psychology, and Dream Interpretation. Furthermore, I am certified in Gottman Level 1 and 2 Couples Therapy. I collaborate with clients to help them determine what their goals are and how I can help them meet those objectives. My core belief as a counselor is that the client and I are partners in their individual journeys.
