More specifically, I help you resolve your communication breakdowns, lack of physical and emotional intimacy, in-law tension, anger issues, etc.  By combining these four approaches -- EFT, Gottman, Developmental Model and RLT -- in a way that is tailored to fit the unique individuals that you are -- your couples therapy will directly address your distinct needs. 

It will help you see how to change the dynamic between you and your partner as expediently as possible. No matter what stage your relationship is in, there’s hope. In therapy sessions, I creatively draw from evidence-based approaches like ACT, CBT, DBT and a variety of other effective methodologies. I base my choice of approach on what seems to fit your personality and comfort level. 

EMDR, TECHNOLOGY-ASSISTED: In addition, for individuals, I specialize in technology-assisted EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a special way of uprooting and replacing stuck, unhelpful thinking patterns and emotions. If you suffer from PTSD (including c-PTSD), anxiety, or other mental conditions, EMDR can significantly diminish the impact on your life. 

JUST JOAN:  My professional passion is on fire. I’m inherently results-oriented and open-minded. After earning my master’s in clinical mental health counseling, I heavily invested in learning from today’s greatest leaders in this field. I have taken extra courses in ALL of the methods mentioned above, and constantly devour more learning (through training and books). I distill brilliant insights from what I learn into mini-lessons for my clients in session -- delivering them in easy-to-remember ways.
