Kristen Erickson, MA, SCL, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Hello, my name is Kristen Erickson, and I believe that if everyone had an unbiased and open-minded person to talk to, everyone would feel seen, heard and valued, and the world would be a better place. That is why I do what I do.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), in addition to a Certified School Counselor. I earned my Masters in Counseling from Wayne State University. I currently have a full-time career in education as a high school counselor, and previous to that, spent 20 years as a high school teacher. I have a great deal of experience in college and career readiness, and worked in a shelter for women and child victims of domestic violence, both of which provide me with unique expertise. Because I work with adolescents daily, I am hoping to work with adults 21+ in private practice.
My counseling philosophy is humanistic and holistic in nature. I believe that every person has the innate potential for personal awareness and psychological growth and I use that to develop treatment that best meets the needs of the clients I counsel. My philosophy integrates the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-centered Therapy with my approach focusing on the “here and now.”
I offer therapy services to treat individuals who struggle with a variety of concerns. These include, but are not limited to: life transition or adjustment problems, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and grief.
