Matthew Benoit, MA
Limited Licensed Psychologist
In therapy, I like to follow the lead of the client so I can best make suggestions and observations that serve the client's stated goal. I employ a holistic approach, considering the whole person: their biology and neuroscience, existential experience, spirituality, and personal values. My background includes the treatment of a wide variety of mental disorders including trauma, depression, and anxiety. I am skilled in multiple approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I), Relaxation Training, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Existential Therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). In treatment, I pull from various approaches depending on the needs of each client. I believe affirmation is essential and I consistently identify a client's strengths and celebrate their wins. I believe it is important to address thoughts and patterns that are not working, as well as build on those that work well. I look forward to helping you work toward changes for a life that is more functional, joyful, and peaceful.
