My role as a mental health professional at Great Lakes Psychology Group is to provide counseling services to individuals in need. My goal is to empower clients through psychoeducation, supporting behavioral health, enhancing communication effectiveness, and supporting emotional regulation within a professional therapeutic environment. I continually strive to provide a safe, supportive space for clients to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns during their time in counseling.

I assist clients in identifying their personal, relational, and vocational goals as well as steps on how to work toward achieving those goals.

I specialize in providing counseling services for adults seeking support with ADHD/ASD, LGBTQIA+ support, existential topics, relationship issues/challenges, mood disorders, and those seeking behavioral/sensory health support.

More about me:

Hello! I’m Megan Mendel (nee Sova), LPC, LMFT. Outside my life as a counselor, I am a nature enthusiast, sci-fi/fantasy lover, love a good craft project, and enjoy spending my free time in libraries.

As a proud owner of a neurodiverse (ADHD/ASD) brain, with lived experience of C-PTSD, I’m a creative outside-the-box problem solver with a warm and accepting presence. I’m passionate about helping other neurodiverse individuals understand more about their ADHD brain and how it influences cognition, perception, emotional regulation, and interactional style within relationships. With a better understanding of how a neurodiverse brain functions, clients learn how best to manage their own symptoms and utilize their unique strengths.

“We like to say that ‘treating’ ADHD means unwrapping your gifts by using strategies that work for you.” — Ned Hallowell, M.D., and John Ratey, M.D.
