Licensed Master Social Worker
Hello, I’m Savannah (she/her), and I’m a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW). One of the most important parts of therapy is having a connected and trusting relationship with your therapist. I approach sessions with empathy and curiosity, often by asking open-ended and follow-up questions, so that I can get to know the true you and get a feel for what life is like in your shoes. I appreciate the strength and vulnerability it takes to open up and speak about your challenges, and would be honored to walk alongside you in your journey.
I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Michigan in 2019. During my MSW program and since graduating, I have worked with children and adults from many different backgrounds, struggling with issues including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, self-harm/self-injury, and suicidal ideation. I am trained in and draw from multiple treatment modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. While I can offer structured interventions when needed, I use a person-centered approach, meaning that I will use various techniques to tailor therapy to your specific preferences and needs. My approach is also strengths-based: You are the expert on yourself and have the ability to choose and create the life you want. I offer a supportive outside perspective to guide you in self-exploration, building coping skills, and moving from surviving to thriving. While our focus is on you, I also take into account the impact of your environment, and use an intersectional lens to explore how your identities shape your experience in the world. Finally, I am knowledgeable and passionate about gender-affirming care.
