FOUNDED BY THERAPISTS IN 2011

Build your practice with people who know what it takes.

We exist to make private practice sustainable. You stay in control of how you practice. We take on the operational work, help new clients find you, and make sure you’re never figuring it out alone.

A steady hand behind your practice

The people behind your practice matter.

A lot can change when a practice is acquired or leadership turns over. Our story has been unusually consistent.

Great Lakes Psychology Group was founded in 2011 and is still run by the same core group. Our long-tenured leadership team is made up largely of clinicians, so decisions stay grounded in how private practice actually works.

  1. 20114 clinicians

    Founded in Clarkston, Michigan

Dr. Kneip and three fellow clinicians open a practice built around what therapists need to run their own caseloads.

  2. 2015

    More than a group practice

We started building our own tools and support team in-house, so we could fix what wasn't working for clinicians instead of waiting on someone else.

  3. 2022

    Harbor launches

Our own system for scheduling, notes, and billing, shaped by years of clinician feedback.

  4. 2026~1,000 clinicians

15 years, still led by clinicians

The same leadership team, made up of psychologists, counselors, and social workers, not investors.

  5. Looking ahead

    Shaped by clinicians

What we build next comes from ideas our therapists share and vote on. Our focus stays where it's always been: supporting and growing your practice.

Insurance + credentialing

Insurance should open doors, not become your full-time job.

Build access to established plans in your market with enrollment guidance, verification support, and experienced billing teams behind you.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Medicare
  • Regional plans

Credentialing

We walk you through payer enrollment and keep the details on track so you can start seeing clients sooner.

Eligibility checks

We help confirm coverage before the first appointment, so you and your clients know what to expect.

Claims follow-through

Experienced billing teams track claims, address denials, and keep your payments on track.

A billing team you can reach

Questions about a claim, a payment, or a payer’s requirements go to people who know private practice billing well. You’ll get clear answers and a plan for next steps, so your time stays focused on your clients.

Some qualified clinicians may be able to begin seeing patients in as little as 30 days. Timelines vary by payer and state.

Practice management

Everything you need to run your practice, in one connected place.

Harbor is our own practice platform, designed with input from GLPG clinicians. It brings scheduling, documentation, billing, and support together around the way you work, so more of your day goes to your clients.

  • Scheduling and calendar tools
  • Billing and claim visibility
  • Practice performance insights
  • Insurance verification support
  • Control when you’re open to new clients
  • HIPAA-compliant systems and support

Billing + payments

Know how you’re paid and where your revenue stands.

Your income is easier to plan around when you can see it clearly. You’ll know how your pay works from the start, our billing team keeps claims on track, and Harbor gives you the visibility you need.

  • Transparent pay structure

We share how pay works upfront, before you decide to join.

Clinicians receive many additional benefits and resources through GLPG as well.”
