I really enjoy creating a genuinely caring, non-judgmental environment where whomever is in my office can gain a new feeling of hope and confidence that things ARE going to get better. I’ve overcome challenges, setbacks, failures, deaths, etc, and it's not all been easy, but there are always changes we can make so you don't feel hopeless or stuck! I use my life experiences, when appropriate, as well as my professional training, and over 15 years of work in the field of human service to help anyone I can. My areas of specialization include: caregiver burnout, geriatric issues, dementia, special needs, ADD/ADHD , depression, anxiety, stress management, grief and loss, chronic health challenges, and marital/family issues, etc.I am more than willing to work with anyone who is in crisis, stressed, anxious, depressed, overworked, struggling with family or personal issues, struggling with relationships or children, health issues etc., but I am also very interested to work with some populations I feel are under served and unnoticed. One group of people I feel need additional support are caregivers. I am referring to family members, spouses, friends or really anyone who provides care for the elderly, disabled, and those with other chronic illnesses. Caregiver burnout is the physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caregivers experience. Caregiver health issues often follow...Another group of people I feel are often under served and misunderstood are adults/young adults with ADD/ADHD, and even more specifically women. If you have ever had people mention to you that they notice you having some characteristics of ADD, or maybe even had a doctor mentioned this but you dismissed it. I can help work with you on coping skills/techniques to help minimize the feelings of being overwhelmed, having racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, feeling unorganized, always running late, etc. I do not push medications, but instead will give you concrete, practical tools you can use and add to your everyday life! In summary, I hope you reach out for help....either from me or another therapist who is a good fit for YOU! My favorite quote: "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." You may need some help to embrace this thinking.....so please reach out to someone to help get you on the right path.
