The Chicago School of Professional Psychology
Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
Welcome, and congratulations for taking the time to explore counseling as a means to improve your life and increase your experience of happiness and well-being! I am a clinical psychologist by training (PsyD from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology) with a strong generalist foundation of training, and welcome a wide range of presenting concerns that people commonly face. I have worked with individuals of all ages through my experience in schools, outpatient mental health centers, as well as college counseling centers. I enjoy working with a wide range of mental health concerns across the life span, including anxiety, mood/depression, ADHD, relationships, self-esteem, adjustment and life transition issues, as well as family-of-origin concerns.
I work from a warm and supportive stance to facilitate self-understanding, new learning, and personal growth to improve your quality of life. My approach emphasizes a reduction in distress and a resolution of life problems, while valuing your personal strivings toward happiness and fulfillment of your unique potentials. I enjoy working clinically from a holistic perspective grounded in a developmental framework and borrowing from interpersonal, cognitive and behavioral, psychodynamic, as well as Buddhist psychology traditions. I tend to be flexible in my work with individuals, intervening in various ways unique to the individual, her/his concerns, and the context of their life, while helping them learn techniques to act skillfully in their lives as they navigate their growth edges. I enjoy encouraging people to accept and embrace adversity as opportunity for personal and spiritual growth, and help them more fully appreciate their process of growth. I bring a respectful warmth and humor into the therapeutic relationship which helps bring a bit of levity to the task of human change, and believe my clients appreciate this balanced approach toward the therapeutic work at hand.
Deciding to invest in yourself and making necessary or desired changes in your life is one of the greatest gifts you can give to not only yourself but to those you care about and the world at large. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with myself or any of our other mental health providers at GLPG. We can help you get started and help keep you moving forward. I look forward to the possibility that we may work together.
