Once a professional firefighter in the City of Flint Michigan, Michael worked countless hours serving those who were in some of the most desperate circumstances of life. This is how he quickly learned of the dramatic effects of repeated exposure to first and secondhand trauma.
This repetitive exposure to trauma would eventually lead Michael, and his family into one of the most difficult battles of their lives. This battle forever changed his outlook on Critical Incident Stress Management, and the importance of repairing and maintaining the mental health and well-being of our FRONTLINE workers.
Michael returned to college while receiving treatment for his own life struggles. Facing a difficult set of circumstances, Michael successfully completed multiple degrees and certificate programs, eventually earning his Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University, and becoming a fully certified Critical Incident Stress Management Professional through CISM International.
Michael has moved on to start his own private practice, partnered with Great Lakes Psychology Group, which includes training and certifying Emotional Support Animals, first-responder stress management, and providing Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to adults as well as children.
