My name is Sarah Tomcala, and I am a licensed therapist in the states of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. I have been working in the field of counseling since 2005, and specializing in substance abuse and trauma since 2010. If life has taught me anything, it's that it is absolutely FULL of unexpected curveballs. Even the best-laid plans and protective factors can feel as though they come up short in the face of some pains and heartaches. It is often difficult to know where to turn in these moments and one feels uncertain how one is supposed to make it through. It is my goal through therapy to hold hope for those who are in situations where they are uncertain how to hold hope for themselves. It is my belief that we are all doing our best to navigate life on its terms, with the best set of cards we have at any given time. Therapy can be an excellent way to add additional cards to the hand you have been dealt, and to navigate life more effectively. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and EMDR are my go-to modalities. My hope is to offer support; a listening ear; perspective, and new insight to point you back to skills you may already have in your toolbox; as well as provide opportunities to learn more. Please don't hesitate to reach out!
