Hi! My name is Stephanie Saperstein and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I started my passion for elevating others through community service at a young age when I volunteered at numerous non-profits with friends and family. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University where I also took a variety of social work courses. I then received my MSW from Wayne State University; specializing in interpersonal theories and family systems. While in Graduate School I interned at an elementary school where I worked with children and their families. There I provided group and direct therapy that focused on building social skills and mechanisms to combat ADHD at the home and school setting.

After graduating and receiving my MSW, I traveled to Bali, Indonesia for a volunteer program where I taught English at low-income school districts to middle-school-aged children. The Balinese culture influenced my practice as a therapist with diverse interventions utilizing Zen Buddhism practices and mindfulness. Practices of mind and body connection are important to personal development and became fluent in my approaches to therapy.

Upon returning home from Bali, I began working in a residential facility for teens 12-21 for a total of 4 years. I was a clinical case manager where I provided individual, group, and family therapy. Throughout my years as a clinical case manager there, I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. I worked with a large number of clients who experienced significant childhood trauma, anxiety, and depression. Due to this clientele, I utilized trauma-informed therapy immensely which included various somatosensory interventions to connect the mind and body. I was promoted to Clinical Services Manager and provided clinical supervision for the therapists within the facility until I moved on this year to start my clinical practice with GLPG. In addition to my clinical practice, I work as a Program Manager working with adults in the criminal justice system in Wayne County assisting with reintegration and reducing recidivism rates.

I’m excited to continue fueling my passion in assisting others in recognizing and utilizing their strengths to live the lifestyle of their choice. I look forward to achieving your goals.
