Consumers Enjoying Online Therapy

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the practice of psychotherapy largely evolved as most therapists moved their practices online. In turn, many therapists and their clients alike were trying online therapy for the first time.

Earlier this month, we surveyed therapists to better understand their impressions of online therapy, and we learned that most therapists have enjoyed online therapy and plan to continue offering online therapy as a component of their practice beyond the pandemic.

We wanted to know: what about the people on the other side of the screen? We recently reached out to our newsletter subscribers to better understand their impressions of online therapy, and we received over 650 survey responses. For context, 85% of responders reported they have tried online therapy.

Here are the takeaways:

1. The majority believe online therapy can be effective.

Here are our readers’ responses to the prompt “online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy.”
